R&B singer Faith Evans makes a long-awaited return with her first new song in almost five years, 'Gone Already.' The track is the lead single from her upcoming album, 'Something about Faith,' which is due out later this fall.
Tinkling piano notes set a somber tone at the start of the track, and despite a skittering, hip-hop influenced beat, things stay pretty bleak throughout, as Faith mourns a lover who wasn't up to her standards: "Hoping things would change but you never gave me that chance / This is not the way love should be / I guess you're not the man for me / I'm gone already."
Faith's last album of original material, 'The First Lady,' came out way back in 2005. She did a holiday collection called 'A Faithful Christmas' in 2007, then took an extended break, announcing just recently that she was preparing her sixth studio album.
'Something about Faith' is expected in stores on Oct. 5. You can listen to the heartbreaking 'Gone Already' right now over on AOL Radio's New R&B First station.
