Killers have teamed up with (RED) once again to release 'Boots,' their new Christmas single and only new music to be unveiled in 2010.
This is the band's fifth Christmas release in conjunction with organization, which raises money for the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. All proceeds from 'Boots' will be donated to the Global Fund.
"Our Christmas single with (RED) is one of our traditions as a band," frontman Brandon Flowers said. "We didn't want to let it fall by the wayside just because we're on hiatus; this cause is too important."
The song was released digitally on Tuesday, but will also be available as a physical disc on Dec. 7, exclusively at Newbury Comics. A video for the single, directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre), will be released on Dec. 1, World AIDS Day, only at Starbucks.com/Share. Starbucks will contribute five cents to the Global Fund for every view the video receives.
"(RED) is an organization that we're proud to help support, and we're thrilled that Starbucks will be hosting our video for charity this year as well," Flowers added.
While 'Boots' maintains the Killers' signature sound, it stays true to its holiday inspiration, conjuring traditional sights and smells of the Christmas season. Flowers sings:
"I can see my mother in the kitchen / My father on the floor / Watching television / It's a wonderful life / Cinnamon candles burning / Snowball fights outside / Smile below each nose and above each chin / Stomp my boots before I go back in."
