New Music Releases -- January 2011

January 2011 is light on high-profile new music releases but Portland, Ore. rock band the Decemberists highlight the schedule with the Jan. 18 release of 'The King is Dead.' The new album, a follow-up to 2009's 'The Hazards of Love,' includes a guest spot from R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck.

Country duo Steel Magnolia, winners of the 2009 season of the CMT reality show 'Can You Duet,' release their self-titled effort on Jan. 11. The record will include two tracks that have already become country hits, 'Keep On Lovin' You' and 'Just By Being You (Halo and Wings).'

Other artists with noteworthy releases in January include 'You're Beautiful' singer James Blunt, whose 'Some Kind of Trouble' drops Jan. 18; critically-acclaimed folkie Iron & Wine, who hits stores Jan. 25 with 'Kiss Each Other Clean'; and rock veterans Gregg Allman and Social Distortion, who each have albums set to be released on the 18th.
