Rumors of a new record began swirling back in 2009 when frontman Brad Arnold told Alternative Addiction that he and his bandmates were likely to collaborate on a new project in the near future. At the time, Arnold said the group was working together online, and were hoping to have the record out in 2010.
"We've all been writing and sharing files electronically, and so when we get together I think we're going to be ready to record right away, and evolve these songs into an album," Arnold said.
The band announced that they had begun work on their new album at a July 22 concert in London, Ontario. The declaration was met with uproarious applause from the crowd, and the band rewarded them by playing a new song, 'On The Run,' which will appear on 'Time of My Life.' Shortly afterward, the band hit the studio in Los Angeles with producer Howard Benson, and began laying down their new slate of tracks.
In a November interview with Artisan News, Arnold confirmed that the group had finished up recording, and that he "cannot wait for people to hear this record." Arnold also said that the band was hoping to release 'Time of My Life' in early 2011, but no release date or official tracklist has been set thus far.
On Jan. 10, however, 3 Doors Down gave fans a taste of what they might expect on the new album with the release of the album's first single, 'When You're Young' -- a powerful ballad about the timeless struggles that we all go through when growing up.
