Caillat, who is best known for her hit 'Bubbly,' wanted to release a song for those in warm weather locations, such as Hawaii. She told Billboard, "I bet they don't always want to hear songs about white Christmases and bundling up 'cause it's cold outside." She admits the song is silly and comical, but a lot of fun to produce. About the silly lyrics, she added, "Kara started coming up with all these funny lyrics about Santa falling off his surf board and Rudolph playing reindeer games on me." The single sounds like a joyful, upbeat Christmas tune, but there is something calm and peaceful about the single, which of course goes along well with the song's lyrics.
The album, 'Christmas in the Sand,' includes five originals and ten holiday standards. It also features collaborations with country stars Brad Paisley and Gavin DeGraw. The album was released on October 23, meaning listeners can go grab the album just in time for the holiday season. For now, you can sway to 'Christmas in the Sand' on AOL Radio's Pop Holiday.
