Coldplay, 'Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall' -- New Song

Capitol

Coldplay have released a brand new single called 'Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall' from their highly anticipated and currently untitled fifth studio album.

"We're about to play a bunch of summer festivals so it's as good a time as any to put out a new song," drummer Will Champion wrote on the band's website.

The announcement also included the song's lyrics, which ended the mystery behind the UK rockers' recent cryptic tweets. Chris Martin sings, "I turn the music up, I got my records on / From underneath the rubble sing a rebel song / Don't want to see another generation drop / I'd rather be a comma than a full stop."

In December, the band released its first original holiday song, 'Christmas Lights,' but 'Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall' marks the four-piece's first new single since their 2008 album 'Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.'

In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Martin said the group's new Brian Eno-produced album covers "love, addiction, OCD, escape and working for someone you don't like." However, he added, it "also has a lot of uplifting stuff. It's supposed to be about life, the good stuff and the bad stuff. Everything."

Coldplay's new song arives just before the band is set to appear at the Rock im Park Festival in Nuremberg, Germany on Saturday. The group will also headline Lollapallooza and Austin City Limits this summer.
