'Shooting Star' was originally written in 2008 with Relient K's Matt Thiessen. It was left off Owl City's 'Ocean Eyes' album, but Adam Young (Owl City's real name) began working again on the synthesizer piano introduction and ended up building the upbeat track around it. The song has more of a dance-feel than some of his other work, but fans will enjoy the pop track which is filled with very inspirational lyrics. Young spoke to Billboard about the goal of the tune: "I wanted to sort of capture the idea that everybody can start a movement if we all unite and capture this sort of standing on the edge, ready to leap off kind of feeling, knowing that even though everyone has dark days, if we really work together we can make anything happen." Owl City sings in his first verse: "All these heavy thoughts will try to weigh you down, but not this time."
'The Midsummer Station' was released in August and was a top ten album in the United States. Owl City is currently wrapping up a world tour, which featured trips to many countries including Belgium, Japan, and Korea. Fans can listen to 'Shooting Star' right now on AOL Radio's New Pop First.
