The 21-year-old Phillips impressed America and the American Idol judges with his live performance of 'Home' on May 22nd, and again on May 23rd after the announcement of his victory. 'Home' was written by Drew Pearson (who has worked with many of the American Idol winners) and Greg Holden. The song has a great deal of uniqueness to it, which would explain the success of a #10 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and over 250,000 digital sales in the first week of its release. It's the biggest sales week for a coronation song by any of the American Idol finalists. 'Home' has a nice blend of genres, with many critics finding similarities between Mumford & Sons (especially from the sound of the guitar and vocal quality). The indie/pop/bluegrass vibe helps create a song that stands out from everything else. It's catchy and performed brilliantly. With songs like this, fans can expect Phillip Phillips to make a name for himself in the music industry very soon.
'Home' is available for digital download now. Fans can hear 'Home' on AOL Radio's New Pop First station.
