'Chalk Outline' was released today after the track leaked on August 10th. The track has the hard-driven rock sound that Three Days Grace has perfected over the years. Adding in a bit of electronic elements in the background gives 'Chalk Outline' a different feel to it, while still maintaining the integrity of the rock sound. The new album was produced by Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Hollywood Undead, etc.), which is a switch from Howard Benson, who produced the bands last two albums. After 'Life Starts Now' failed to go Platinum in the US, it will be interesting to see if the change of producers will have an impact on the new album's success. The guitars give the song the power, but it's the lyrics that provide the feeling. "You kept me here like a chalk outline/On the sidewalk waiting for the rain/to wash away, wash away/You keep coming back to the scene of the crime/But the dead can't speak and there's/nothing left to say anyways/All you left behind, is a chalk outline." The new single sets the tone for the new album, and the slogan for the new album fits just as well; "Some things will never happen again in your life time."
'Chalk Outline' is available now. 'Transit Of Venus' hits stores on October 2nd. Three Days Grace fans can hear 'Chalk Outline' on AOL Radio's New Alternative First.
