Celine Dion was originally offered to record this love song for the 'Pearl Harbor' soundtrack but declined. As a result, Faith Hill was then offered the song.

This love song features backup vocals from the New Jersey Mass Choir, who released their own solo version which peaked at No. 37 on the Hot Black Singles chart and No. 12 on the Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales chart.

8) Eric Clapton: 'Wonderful Tonight'

Clapton was backed by Dire Straits for a surprise performance of the love tune at the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute in 1988.

This song of love was performed during a fictional marriage ceremony on 'The Steve Harvey Show.'



4) Sheriff: 'When I'm With You'

Lead singer Freddy Curci is listed in the Guinness Book of Records for holding the longest note in a pop song in the final line of our No. 4 best love song ever.




3) Richard Marx: 'Right Here Waiting'

American Idol contestant William Hung covered the love song on his solo album, 'Miracle: Happy Summer from William Hung.'



2) Journey: 'Open Arms'

Guitarist Neal Schon "hated" this love song -- originally written by Jonathan Caine while in the band The Babys -- complaining that it sounded "kinda Mary Poppins."



1) Celine Dion: 'Because You Loved Me'

The Canadian chanteuse's Grammy-winning love song hit was penned by songwriter extraordinaire Diane Warren, and was featured in the Robert Redford/Michelle Pfeiffer film 'Up Close & Personal.'
