Eddie Vedder 'My City of Ruins' -- New Song

Eddie Vedder My City of Ruins

Eddie Vedder's cover of Bruce Springsteen's 'My City of Ruins' -- performed at the 32nd Kennedy Center Honors in 2009 as a tribute to the Boss -- is downloadable for the first time through Ten Club and iTunes, where all proceeds benefit Artists for Peace and Justice Haiti Relief. Springsteen was one of the five recipients to receive the honor last year (the others: Mel Brooks, Dave Brubeck, Grace Bumbry, and Robert De Niro).

'My City of Ruins' was featured on the Boss' 2002 album 'The Rising.' He wrote the tune about the blight of Ashbury Park for the city's Christmas show benefit in 2000. The lyrics are symbolic to any catastrophe: "Now the sweet bells of mercy / Drift through the evening trees / Young men on the corner / Like scattered leaves / The boarded up windows / The empty streets / While my brother's down on his knees / My city of ruins." Go to AOL Radio's All Pearl Jam station to hear the track.
