Top Dance Songs of 2010 (So Far)

The top dance songs of 2010 are part of an electronic movement that is only becoming more dominant over time. While Top 40 acts can draw huge crowds, they are dwarfed by the size and scope of today's rave and dance parties, which have reached monumental proportions. The names might not roll of your tongue as easily, but if the ratings on our Top Dance station are any indication, you'll be movin' to one of these dance tracks.

'Secret Love'
American singer-songwriter Kim Sozzi originally recorded 'Secret Love' in 2001, but the track has seen new life -- via a new recording and remixes -- in 2010. The third single from last year's 'Just One Day' album is also Sozzi's third No. 1 single on the Dance Airplay chart.

'Never Forget You'
ManiaCalm Feat. Lala
The New York-based music production and DJ duo ManiaCalm dropped this dance single just in time for summer. Produced by ManiaCalm's D-Major and featuring singer Lala, 'Never Forget You' was released in late March, sparking national interest on dance radio since its debut.

'Better Than Her'
This former 'One Life to Live' soap star takes her stage name from the famous painter, whom she says she emulates because of his refusal to follow convention. With a voice often compared to Madonna, Matisse might just be starting her own legacy with her first chart-topping single, 'Better Than Her.'
07
'Happiness'
Her career comprises one single to date -- it just so happens that dance song reached No. 1 on the Hot Dance charts. Not even 18 years old, this new Jay-Z prodigy has a storied past. From her performing a Stevie Wonder tribute with Smokey Robinson at 12, to being a semifinalist on 'America's Got Talent' and racking up millions of YouTube hits before even releasing a record, it's easy to see why this newcomer is one-for-one with her hit, 'Happiness.'

'Pyromania'
Despite originally debuting in Europe back in February, 'Pyromania' hit the States recently, just in time for summer. The savvy business move echoes what the German dance group did for its song 'Dangerous,' as both chart-topping singles are reportedly part of an upcoming full length.

'Stereo Love'
Edward Maya Feat. Vika Jigulina
This single by Romanian musician Edward Maya featuring Vika Jigulina rose to the top of French, Dutch, Finnish, Spanish, Swedish and Irish singles charts last year, before hitting US shores in 2010. But not without controversy: Last autumn, composer Eldar Mansurov claimed the refrain of 'Stereo Love' was taken from his popular 1989 composition 'Bayatilar,' later signing an agreement with Mansurov affirming their co-authorship of the song.
04
'Sweet Disposition' (Axwell and Dirty South Remix)
Definitely the surprise band to make the list, Temper Trap's alternative-rock song 'Sweet Disposition' was remixed by Axwell and Dirty South, rising to the No. 1 slot on the US Dance Radio chart. Oddly enough, the remix of the song has become more popular than the original, despite the latter's inclusion on the '500 Days of Summer' soundtrack.

'Dynasty'
Kaskade Feat. Haley
Dance DJ and producer Kaskade has been recognized as one of the top 100 DJs in the world by DJ Mag. 'Dynasty,' the title track and first single from his sixth studio effort, features singer Haley, who lends her vocals on three additional tracks off the album.
02
'The Sound of Missing You'
'The Sound of Missing You' is considered Ammerah's first international hit dance single. Despite initially being released in Belgium and the Netherlands, it was her first song to be produced in the US, where it reached No.3 on the Hot Dance Radio chart upon its release.
01
'Restlessness'
Bastien Laval Feat. Layla
Known mostly for his remixes, the relatively new dance producer Bastien Laval tops our Dance Songs of 2010 with his debut single featuring the singer Layla. With two more singles (including another with Layla) set for release, Laval might have more then one chart-topper when 2010 comes to a close.
