Best Album Covers of 2010 (So Far)

With just under four months left in 2010, we thought it would be a good time to acknowledge some of the best album cover artwork we've seen so far this year. It was feared that the digital revolution would kill this art form, but as you can see, there's a huge variety of wonderful art out there. Check out AOL Radio's list of the Best Album Covers of 2010 (So Far).
Newly reunited Soundgarden show guitar legend Jeff Beck -- whose album made our Worst Album Covers list -- how to use an eagle properly to convey an image of power and grace.
Hip-hop star Curren$y draws attention to the plight of his besieged hometown of New Orleans, by depicting a very cool two-tone vision of the city under aerial attack.
Mark Weaver did the cover for the debut album from Trent Reznor's new band. You can check out more of Weaver's work on the great "Make Something Cool Every Day" site.

'Soldier of Love'
About every 10 years, Sade appears and graces us with a lesson in how to create art with class, grace and depth. This beautiful cover photo is the latest example.

'Dark Is the Way, Light Is a Place'
Drummer Nate Young describes this Michael Zavros-created cover as "a hand-drawn charcoal painting (which) fit perfectly with what we were feeling for these songs."
Awesome, visually arresting cover. The only question is, how did they get all those birds to line up at exactly the same time? Whaddya mean, "computers"?

'False Priest'
Here's our best attempt to describe this in words: A tripped-out gingerbread house covered in fish, flames, books and flowers, with everybody armed for a big battle.
Sometimes, the best album cover art creates a doorway into a world you just can't wait to walk around in, even before you hear a single note of the music inside.
It's cool enough that this cover looks like Sonic the Hedgehog surfing out of a cat's mouth on a psychedelic ocean, but.. wait! It's actually a scratch-off cover, too!
Virtual band Gorillaz count famed cartoonist Jamie Hewlett among their members. He helped create an oversized 3-D model of their mythical home for this awesome cover photo.
